Welcome to the Lions Club of Rocklin
We Serve.
Since 1955, the Lions Club of Rocklin has been part of this city’s everyday life. We put service first: sponsoring Scouts, collecting eyeglasses, supporting sight care, and showing up for neighbors who need a hand.
Our story
The Club was chartered in 1955. From the beginning, Lions tied themselves to Rocklin’s young people. The Club became the charter organization for Troop 29 and has remained its benefactor for decades. Charter member Roy Ruhkala was an early Scoutmaster. Other Lions followed, including Ken Weger and Stu Hardy, whose years with the Troop are remembered in the Stu Hardy Trail at Johnson-Springview Park. Today, Lion Sean Collins serves as Scoutmaster of Troop 29.
Today the Lions Club of Rocklin charters:
- Cub Scout Pack 29
- Scouts BSA Troop 29
- Scouts BSA Troop 219
- Crew 29
In February 2019 we helped launch Troop 219, the first all-female Scouts BSA troop in the Golden Empire Council Discovery District. The number 219 marks that historic date—February 2019—and honors the 19th Amendment.
How we serve
Lions Clubs International is the world’s largest service club organization. After Helen Keller challenged Lions to become “knights of the blind,” sight conservation became a defining mission. Rocklin Lions live that charge locally:
- Raising funds for eye exams and glasses for people who need them
- White Cane Days and other sight fundraisers
- Free youth vision screenings at community events
- Collecting used eyeglasses for the Folsom Project—more than half a million pairs and counting
We also help bring the community together. Breakfast with Santa, pancake breakfasts, and other gatherings have become Rocklin traditions—warm meals, family photos, and a chance for Scouts and Lions to serve side by side.
Who we are
Lions are neighbors, parents, business owners, retirees, and volunteers who believe a town is strongest when people give their time. Membership is by invitation and by showing up. You do not need a special title. You need a willingness to serve.
