Rocklin’s Scouts BSA Troop 219 was established on February 1, 2019—a historic day in Scouting and in the lives of young women across the country. That was the first day young women were eligible to join the Scouts BSA program. Troop 219 became the first all-female Scouts BSA Troop in the Golden Empire Council Discovery District.
The unit number was chosen with purpose. “219” marks February 2019 (2/19), the date young women could join the program, and honors the 19th Amendment and women’s suffrage. (The backup number was 38, for March 8—International Women’s Day.)
The Lions Club of Rocklin charters Troop 219 and is the brother troop of Troop 29. The founding committee included Jenny and Jim Harris, Jason Schlager, Liza and Sean Osmond, and Teresa and Roger Martinez. Dianne Cooper served as founding Scoutmaster.
With a minimum of five Scouts required to start a new troop, Troop 219 met that requirement on launch day and more than tripled in its first month. The Troop’s story is still being written—by the Scouts who lead it.
In Scouting, you make the decisions. Scouts plan meetings, choose outings, work on advancement, and help one another along the trail to Eagle. Adults are there to support. You lead the way.
The Troop meets every Thursday from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at:
City of Rocklin Parks and Recreation Building
5460 Fifth Street
Rocklin, CA 95677
Webelos, prospective new Scouts, and families are always welcome to visit.
Be Prepared.
